Course Description:
This course provides training for officers and ratings who have not previously served on board tanker vessel. It supersedes model courses 1.03 and 1.05. The course comprises a familiarization training programme appropriate to their duties and responsibilities, including characteristics of tanker cargoes, their associated hazards, safety measures, pollution prevention, emergency operations, cargo equipment and operations. The course takes account of section A-V/1 of the STCW Code adopted by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended in 1995.
